Dorothy is a licensed professional counselor, EMDR trauma specialist, and a certified sex therapist. She has been in private practice since 1998.

Dorothy specializes in working with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of therapy issues and disorders. As an EMDR-trained therapist, she works with persons who are having trauma reactions as well as addictions related to trauma. She is a certified sex therapist with the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).

Dorothy works with financial issues including career change and choice, budgets, retirement, and self-determination of worth.  Her career has included financial planning, executive director, and clinical coordinator.

Another growing area of need is for those with chronic illness and environmental disease.  Dorothy is a affiliate member of ISEAI (The International Society for Environmentally Acquired Illness) and works to help those who have or care for others with chronic illness.

Her passion for counseling and therapy stems from a holistic and spiritual approach. She sees patients beginning therapy wherever they are emotionally and then moving through the process or eliminating behaviors and resolving experiences that are keeping them stuck. Dorothy believes patients can transform their experience of life from the inside out.

This transformation often requires patients to work on two areas simultaneously. One is developing an awareness of how the past collides with and affects the present. The second is changing present-day interactions with self and others. Healing and wellness occur as both areas are addressed in therapy and life.
